The mission of the Traffic Injury Research Foundation (TIRF) is to reduce traffic-related deaths and injuries. As a national, independent, charitable road safety research institute, TIRF designs, promotes, and implements effective programs and policies, based on sound research. TIRF routinely works with diverse stakeholders including governments, non-profits, road safety professionals and media, to share knowledge and research about important road safety issues.

TIRF is a registered Canadian charity and depends on grants, contracts, and donations to provide services to the public. Since its inception in 1964, TIRF has become internationally recognized for its accomplishments in identifying the causes of road crashes and developing programs and policies to address them effectively.
