In the past decade Drug-Impaired Driving fatalities have proportionately increased. While the science on the relationship between drug-use, impairment and crash risk is not as clear-cut as for Alcohol-Impaired Driving, many fatally injured drivers in road crashes have one or more drugs in their system. In this section, research on this topic is made available.

Most importantly, TIRF produces a variety of education programs and also works with practitioners in transportation, health, criminal justice, and many other stakeholders to help implement research findings and accelerate change in the real world.“
