More than four decades of research demonstrate that an alcohol interlock is an effective and efficient tool to monitor drink driving behaviour, prevent recidivism and reduce alcohol-related crashes and fatalities. TIRF is a world-leader on this issue, notably with respect to implementing efficacious interlock programs. Check out all the research and Knowledge Transfer (KT) activities TIRF has conducted over the years on this tool here.
“Our research agenda guides the development of projects to address important topics requiring research and action. Most importantly, TIRF produces a variety of education programs and also works with practitioners in transportation, health, criminal justice, and many other stakeholders to help implement research findings and accelerate change in the real world.“
