This episode of #MyDrivingMatters ‘That was CLOSE!’ is sponsored by:

The fifth episode in the #MyDrivingMatters ‘That was CLOSE!’ vodcast series is on Are you Ready to Drive? It features guest experts, Cst. Shaun Asselstine, Toronto Police Service and Joanne Dalziel, Co-operators. This episode discusses young drivers’ risk factors and crash risk, and how to gauge your teen’s readiness to drive. There’s a wealth of research on young drivers and some of the important risk factors when they learn to drive, as well as strategies to reduce those risks. Many of the key driving behaviours we’re talking about in this series like distraction, speed, and of course, impairment are important risk factors. But there are other pieces to the puzzle, such as hazard perception, the presence of young passengers in the vehicle and driving at night which is particularly risky for new drivers. This final episode in the five-part series covers the most asked question by both parents and teens…how do I know when I’m [my teen is] ready to drive, especially on my own?
